Meet Dr. Sewell
Dr. Julia Sewell, OD has completed her Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating with Latin Honors, from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She earned her American Academy of Optometry Student Fellowship, the 2021 Clinical Service Award and was a four year member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors organization. During medical school, she participated in the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) organization, a non-profit organization with a mission to bring vision care to people around the world, particularly in developing nations.
While living in Memphis, she worked in adult primary care, ocular disease, contact lens, teen, pediatric, and vision therapy optometric clinics. To expand her clinical skills in managing ocular diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma, she interned at the Greenville VA Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. She also completed an internship at a private practice in Rock Hill, South Carolina where she provided exceptional eye care for patients of all ages. Before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry degree, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in her home state of Ohio. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sewell enjoys spending her time hiking, traveling, reading, and exploring new local restaurants and café’s.
